Digital Provinces, Chinese Fourth Industrial Revolution (Electric/Autonomous Vehicles), Chengdu (Sichuan)

Sichuan had a $15.62 billion AI industry and 100,000 data centre cabinets by 2022 with its digital economy constituting over 40% of GDP. 

 

Sichuan invested $1.65 billion to treble 5G base stations to 120,000 by 2022 that will over-double to 250,000 by 2025. 

 

Sichuan’s electric vehicle production will increase six-fold to 600,000 by 2025 facilitated by over 200,000 charging piles by 2022.

 

Sichuan has built the $3.84 billion L4 V2X Chengdu Tianfu International Airport Expressway while Chengdu domestically pioneered an inversely suspended autonomous new energy smart ‘sky train’.

 

Sichuan has 131 GW hydropower reserves with a national-leading 78 GW capacity in 2019. Chengdu unveiled the globe’s longest 3D printed bridge at 21.58 m in 2021. 

 

Chengdu is western China’s biggest BRI logistical transport centre facilitated by the high-tech China (Sichuan) Pilot Free Trade Zone while the Chengdu-Lodz railway has enabled trade with Poland in under two weeks.

 

Over 8,000 China-Europe CR Express freight trains had travelled from Chengdu by April 2021 to 60 cities transporting $31.2 billion in cargo value.
